AR Auto Service Hosts Tech Session on Driving Techniques

AR Auto Service Tech Session

At AR Auto Service, we try to be more than just another repair shop. Our motto is “by the enthusiast, for the enthusiast.” That’s the reasoning behind our series of tech sessions. Anyone is welcome to attend these occasional seminars on performance enhancement, tuning and setup, or advanced driving techniques.

Our most recent session covered driving techniques for track days and racing. AR owner Eddie Nakato sprang for pizza and turned the shop into an impromptu classroom for the evening.

Over 25 friends and customers turned up to take advantage of the opportunity, and Eddie gave a 2-hour talk on how to vary driving techniques both on and off the race track or autocross course. Eddie covered such concepts as the importance of hand position and steering techniques, as well as pedal inputs. “An individual who can heel & toe in their own car without band aids such as pedal extensions, will not develop sloppy habits and will promote the skills necessary to excel in whatever vehicle they drive,” Eddie said. Finally, the seminar covered advanced techniques to intentionally induce and then correct oversteer.

Following the presentation, Eddie opened the floor up for questions and comments from the audience, and the evening finished up with a social hour.
